Fredrik A. B. NYBERG, BSc (Hons), MBA

Managing Partner and Co-Founder (based in Singapore)

 

Fredrik Nyberg has 23 years’ experience in the medical industry in senior sales/marketing and general management positions in Asia and Europe. As Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Biomedical Strategy Consultants Pte Ltd, he has served numerous clients ranging from medtech start-ups to Fortune 500 life sciences companies. He has a proven track record of achievement and has lived and worked in Asia since 1990. He was most recently Group General Manager for a medical engineering start-up in Malaysia.

 

Fredrik previously worked as Marketing Director for Ohmeda Inc. (now separate units of Becton Dickinson and GE-Medical) in both Singapore and Japan and during the 1980s he held European-based positions for Ohmeda in international product management and business development, with particular focus on anaesthesiology, interventional cardiology and critical care. He is a member of the Medical Marketing Association, Singapore Institute of Management and the Institute of Management Consultants (Singapore). He is also a Member of The Council of Healthcare Advisors, a community of thought leaders and practitioners in medicine, biotechnology and healthcare services.

 

He is a frequent speaker on the healthcare industry in Asia-Pacific. Fredrik has a BSc (Hons) in Business Administration and Economics from Gothenburg University, Sweden and an MBA from Henley Management College, London and is fluent in English, Swedish, French and German.

 

 

CHUA Kin Khye, BComm, MBA

Senior Partner and Co-Founder (based in Singapore)

 

Kin Chua is Co-Founder and Senior Partner of Biomedical Strategy Consultants Pte Ltd. He has 25+ years’ experience in senior financial, sales/marketing leadership and general management positions. He has more than 19 years of experience in the medical devices and equipment industry, most recently as President Asia-Pacific for Mallinckrodt Inc., a world leader in imaging and respiratory care products.

 

Kin has lived and worked in Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and the United States. He has an outstanding track record of building sales, service and distribution infrastructures in Asia and previously held the positions of Vice-President Emerging Markets for Nellcor Puritan Bennett and General Manager Hewlett-Packard, Asia-Pacific Medical Products Group (now a unit of Philips Medical). Kin has served as advisor to the biomedical sciences sector of A*Star (Agency for Science, Technology and Research) of Singapore.

 

He has a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from Concordia University, Canada and an MBA from McGill University, Canada and is fluent in English, Mandarin and several local Chinese dialects.

 

 

Noriaki (Ray) TSUNODA, BS, MBA

Senior Partner (based in Tokyo, Japan)

 

Noriaki (Ray) Tsunoda has 25 years’ experience in leadership and management positions in the healthcare industry, covering sales, marketing and general management. He is currently CEO of Fresenius Medical Care Japan K.K. (a subsidiary of Fresenius AG, the world's leading provider of products and services for dialysis patients).

 

Ray was formerly President of Accelrys K.K. (Japan) and Vice President, Asia-Pacific Operations, Accelrys Inc., a provider of molecular modeling and simulation software for the life sciences sector.

 

Ray has also held the position of President and CEO, and remains on the Board, of TransMedX Co. Ltd., a Japanese healthcare start-up providing IT procurement services for hospitals. He has previously held senior management positions with medical devices suppliers, B. Braun Japan as President and CEO and Ohmeda Japan as Sales Director. He is a Certified Small and Medium Enterprise Management Consultant, has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Electro Communications, Tokyo and an MBA from Southeast Missouri State University, USA and is fluent in Japanese and English.

 

 

Dr. André L. LAMOTTE, ScD, MBA

Senior Partner MSPI (based in Zürich, Switzerland)

Dr Lamotte is a well-known entrepreneur and international venture capitalist, who since 1988 founded, co founded, lead financed and actively supported (through all stages until after IPO) the development of 18 pharmaceutical and biotech companies, 7 medtech companies and 2 medical service companies. In 1997, Dr Lamotte co-founded New Medical Technologies, a venture capital firm headquartered in Basel, Switzerland. In early 2003, NMT merged with HBM BioVentures (Zürich). Dr Lamotte is currently Senior Venture Partner in HBM BioVentures, a leading European and transatlantic venture capital group.

During more than 25 years business experience, Dr Lamotte served as General Manager of Merieux Institute, Inc., the U.S. affiliate of Institut Merieux and Pasteur Vaccins; Marketing Manager for Sandoz Region III (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) Business Development Manager for Sandoz Pharmaceutical Division in Basel (Switzerland); and Corporate Engineer for Air Products & Chemicals in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

 

Dr Lamotte holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MSc and ScD from MIT, and a BS from École Centrale, Paris. He is fluent in English, French and German.

 

 

Jeremy S Chrisp, BSc (Hons), PhD

Partner (based in Sydney, Australia)

Dr Jeremy Chrisp has 21+ years experience in the Australian healthcare market as a scientist, marketer, senior manager, consultant and entrepreneur in the pharmaceutical, medical device and life-science fields. He is the founder and managing director of Jeremy Chrisp & Associates, a management consulting company specialising in the commercialisation for the Australian biotechnology industry with a focus on start-up ventures. In addition, Jeremy is an Investment Manager with ANU Connect Ventures, a $30 million pre-seed investment fund of the ANU-MTAA Super Venture Capital Partnership.

Jeremy gained this experience by working with leading global multinational companies, including Merck & Co, Stryker, Becton Dickinson & Medtronic. He held positions including clinical research associate, sales representative, product manager, marketing manager, business development manager, sales & marketing manager as well as managing director. Until recently, Jeremy was the inaugural CEO of Medsaic Pty Ltd, a spin-out company from The University of Sydney, which commercialised a new antibody micro-array platform for the diagnosis of disease by the identification of surface proteins.

Jeremy holds a BSc (Hons) in physiology from the University of Otago (NZ) and a PhD in physiology from the University of Canterbury (NZ). He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

Dhanraj CHANDRIANI, BA, MSc

Senior Associate (based in Mumbai, India)

Dhanraj Chandriani has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare sector. He began his career in manufacturing medical devices such as patient monitoring systems, electrosurgical devices and defibrillators. He later moved on to a career in marketing a wide spectrum of medical devices in India and finally became the CEO of the organisation X-ray & Electromedicals (India). In addition, he has held the position of  Director-Healthcare of the Manipal Group, the single largest healthcare group in India owning 12 hospitals and 5 medical colleges in the country.

Currently Dhanraj manages his own hospital planning and management consultancy firm. He has successfully completed over 38 hospital projects in India. He has also acted as advisor to the Ministry of Health, Govt. of Maharashtra on World Bank funded healthcare projects in the State of Maharashtra.

He is visiting faculty at the Garware Institute (Bombay University), TSEC (Biomedical Engineering College, Bombay) and Symbiosis Institute (Pune) where he teaches hospital planning and management. Dhanraj holds an MSc in Physics from Bombay University, a Degree in Business Administration (J. Bajaj Institute, Bombay) and a Diploma in Hospital Administration (NHMI, Bombay). He is fluent in English and Hindi.

 

Philip YUE Zhi Guo, BEng

Senior Associate (based in Beijing, China)

Philip Yue has 18 years’ experience in the medical equipment industry, having held various senior executive positions in sales and marketing. Philip has worked in the Chinese medical industry for more than 16 years, where he has been based in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Philip worked a number of years with Hewlett-Packard Medical Products Group (now a unit of Philips Medical), based in China starting 1987. He joined Siemens Medical China Operations in the late nineties as General Manager Sales and Marketing and played an instrumental role in establishing the sales and distribution infrastructure for Siemens Medical across the country. Philip moved to Singapore in 2001 as Asia-Pacific Marketing Director for Siemens Medical. He returned to China two years later and joined ultrasound manufacturer SonoSite Inc. as China Country Manager. He currently heads a medical equipment distributor organization which he co-founded, with offices in Beijing and Shanghai.

Philip holds a Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Zhejiang University, China. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.
